Show Notes

(Podcast name updated to "For Justice's Sake".)

After 200 years Juneteenth has become as celebrated as July 4th in the African American community. We’ll give a brief history of the observance, discuss what the day means to law and Atlanta.

While Juneteenth is a celebration, its recent popularity is partially due to a turbulent year of police brutality in America in 2020.

Nationwide protests over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and Rayshard Brooks (which happened in Georgia), sparked renewed interest in a holiday focused on freedom and justice in the Black community.
